'The Astronomical New Moon is on Sunday, 18 October 2009 at 6.34am.
 
Based on our community sighting criteria, the first sighting of the crescent should InshaAllah occur in South Pacific Ocean on Sunday 18 October 2009. Mu'mineen in Fiji should be able to sight the crescent on Monday 19 October 2009.
 
Should the crescent be sighted as expected, in accordance with the rulings of Ayatullah Sistani (based on the Theory of Differing Horizons), 1st Dhu al Qa'dah 1430AH will be on Wednesday, 21 October 2009.
 
For the Muqallideen of Marhum Ayatullah Khui, 1st Dhu al Qa'dah will be on Tuesday, 20 October 2009.
