Hilal Advisory Team Statement - Ramadhan 1430AH

The Astronomical New Moon is on Thursday, 20 August 2009 at 11.03am. Based on our community sighting criteria, the first sighting of the crescent should InshaAllah occur in the South Pacific Ocean. Mu’mineen in Fiji should be the first to sight the crescent on Friday, 21 August 2009. However sighting of the crescent in Northern Europe (including the United Kingdom) is NOT possible on Friday 21 August 2009.

For the followers of Syed Seestani (DA) residing in France, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway and the United Kingdom, 1st of Ramadhan 1430 AH is thus expected on Sunday 23 August 2009 following the completion of 30 days of Shaaban.

As for those who remain on the taqleed of Marhum Ayatullah Khui (RA) , 1st Ramadhan will most likely be on Saturday, 22 August 2009.

The Hilal Advisory Team will convene on Friday 21 August and subsequently issue a statement accordingly.
